The Armor of God, Part 1
Tim started his sermon by describing to us a number of unbelievable but true stories of men who had fallen from airplanes that were going down without parachutes and amazingly survived the experience. However he also reminded us “it is always best not to fall at all.” Instead we must stand. We are equipped with everything we need to stand. We are equipped with the “full armor of God.”
Our strength is a passive strength, it is in His mighty power that we are strong. However this strength is also active, we must take the initiative and muster the will to be strong. We must have grit. We can choose to give up, or fall away, and turn from their relationship with God. We can also fall into unfruitfulness. We know that we will be opposed for we have an enemy, an adversary, who will attempt to stagnate and defeat us. The powers of evil can bring about death and destruction but Jesus came and sacrificed so that we might have life.
We will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Are we living with the armor of god intact? Are we willing to stand and then in faith take the next step? Are we relying on the power of the Holy Spirit in order to stand?
