Resurrection Life, Part 2
Paul explained to us how God’s power is found in our weakness and therefore he proclaimed that he “boasts about his weakness” and reminded us that he was given a “thorn in the flesh” to keep him from becoming prideful. God’s grace is sufficient for you and His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). God is near to the humble and close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
If we come to grips with our own failures we can begin to be used by God and His power can be realized in us. In humility we will grow deeper and more honest with ourselves, so that we may quit wasting our energy defending ourselves and rationalizing our actions. We can begin to forget what is behind, to strain towards what is ahead and eventually we may win the prize for which God has called us heavenward (Philippians 3:10-14).
