We celebrate Communion to remember what Jesus did for us. The ability that God gives us to remember is an incredible thing but it is also a distinct responsibility. “Do this in remembrance of me” we were told (1 Corinthians 11:24). Jesus also said “I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35).
We must remember that God created us, that He loves us, and that He has a purpose for us. Sometimes we “forget” or we chose not to give the proper things value in our lives. Jesus died on a cross for our sins … this is something we can’t forget! We are saved through the blood of Christ that was shed on our behalf. The law of Christ is love and we are meant to share this love with the world. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).
